Welcome to Braunton Cricket Club
Set in the village of Braunton in North Devon, our club sits on what has to be one of the most picturesque grounds in the country. It borders the Great Field, one of only two surviving medieval open strip field systems in England, believed to date way back the 1200s as well as overlooking Braunton Burrows, a vast and complex dune system that sits between Saunton Sands beach and the rural farmland surrounding it. As a UNESCO Designated Biosphere Reserve due to the rarity of the plant and insect life that inhabits it, the burrows are a protected habitat. We have numerous teams playing on our superb sand-based pitches, as well as excellent net facilities and a members’ clubhouse. Our playing season runs from April to September, but the bar will welcome you all year round!
Our History
Braunton Cricket Club has a history going back nearly 150 years. The success of the club has always been down to the willingness of local people to volunteer their time and effort to provide a playing facility for its community, whilst safeguarding its future for the next generation.
The Bar
Since 2019, the clubhouse and bar have seen a great deal of investment and regeneration. It is now a highly successful business in its own right, servicing the club and the local community in a variety of ways, from sports teams to private functions.

Women’s Section
In 2023, Braunton Women formalised their position within the club and moved from being a purely social focus, to joining the Devon Women’s Softball Cricket League. This season promises to see more games for the women as they go from strength to strength.
Juniors’ Section
The junior section at Braunton Cricket Club has grown substantially over the past few years. Training sessions take place on a Friday, when we run All Stars and Dynamos sessions for the younger children followed by hardball sessions for the U11-U15 teams.
Pubs and Clubs League
We are proud to be the home venue for a number of North Devon’s Pubs and Clubs teams. This is a fun league, with games each week and a finals day, featuring back to back semi-finals and the final, all held at the Kelsey Ground later in the season.
